When Growth Calls, Will You Answer?

March 30, 20252 min read

Growth doesn’t always call with a loud voice. Sometimes it whispers through the things we admire in others, the roles we hesitate to claim, or the quiet nudges that tell us there’s more we can do if only we dare to step forward.

For years, I found fulfillment working behind the scenes, supporting the growth of ERTC’s mission and community in ways that felt natural to me. My husband and two fellow coaches had already been leading, guiding Champions through powerful lessons and meaningful conversations. I admired their work. I believed in what we were building. And I told myself that my role was to support from where I stood.

But as I watched the people we serve push themselves beyond their limits, embrace discomfort, and take bold steps in their own journeys, I started to reflect on my own. I had spent so much time making sure others had what they needed to grow. Had I unknowingly been holding myself back from doing the same?

At some point, the idea of stepping forward no longer felt like a distant thought. Growth had been calling me for a while, and the more I opened myself up to new perspectives and challenges, the clearer it became. Supporting others had always been fulfilling, but I started to realize that in order to do that more effectively, I needed to keep growing too. It wasn’t about taking space. It was about expanding my capacity to serve.

Stepping into facilitation wasn’t an easy shift. It meant letting go of the comfort of staying in the background. It meant learning as I went, making adjustments, and accepting that I wouldn’t have everything figured out right away. But what made all the difference was the ERTC community itself—the Champions who continue to show up, morning after morning, committed to their personal and professional growth. Their trust, their openness, and their willingness to embrace not just the lessons we discuss but also the changes that come with growth, including mine.

For that, I am deeply grateful. I am grateful to this community that didn’t just allow me to step forward but welcomed it. I am grateful for the reminder that leadership isn’t about taking up space. It’s about creating room for others. It’s about showing up, imperfectly and wholeheartedly, with a willingness to learn alongside those we serve.

Now, every morning session I facilitate is more than just a responsibility. It is an opportunity to contribute, to stretch, and to witness the kind of growth that inspires me to keep going. And if there’s anything this experience has shown me, it’s that the steps we hesitate to take are often the ones that matter most. Not just for ourselves, but for the people we have the privilege to serve.

Have you ever felt a nudge to step forward in a new way? What would growth look like for you?
